Bread of Life Food Drive Under Way

The annual Notre Dame Bread of Life Food Drive on Staten Island is under way. The University of Notre Dame Alumni Club of Staten Island organizes the food drive, now in its 27th year of serving the hungry and families in need.

Last year, 131 schools served as collection spots for the Bread of Life Drive, or B.O.L.D., as it is known. Local churches, small businesses, labor unions and after-school programs also assist the effort.

On Saturday, March 24, 300 volunteers will gather in the gymnasium at Msgr. Farrell High School, 2900 Amboy Road, to sort and pack 70,000 nonperishable food items that will be delivered to 25 recipient organizations.

“It is the coming together of all these Staten Island groups that makes this year’s B.O.L.D. such an inspiring and hopeful event,” said Joe Delaney, director of the Bread of Life Food Drive.

“Our 2018 B.O.L.D. appeals to the goodness and true spirit of volunteerism of Staten Islanders.”
