Brother Bernard McKenna, F.S.C.

Brother Bernard McKenna, F.S.C., who taught at several schools in the archdiocese, died Nov. 23 at De La Salle Hall in Lincroft, N.J., CNY has learned. He was 88.

   He served in Manhattan at St. Bernard's Annex, 1941-1943, and at St. Thomas the Apostle School, 1943-1945, and in the Bronx at Cardinal Spellman High School, 1961-1962. He also served at Lincoln Hall in Lincolndale, 1945-1947.

   He taught in several other dioceses in New York and in New Jersey.

   Born in Manhattan, he entered the De La Salle Christian Brothers in 1936 and professed final vows in 1944.

   He held a bachelor's degree from The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. He earned a master's in social work at Fordham University.

   A Funeral Mass was offered Nov. 26 at St. Gabriel's Church in Marlboro, N.J., with burial at the Christian Brothers' cemetery in Marlboro Township.
