Brother Donald Kelly, F.M.S., a math professor at Marist College for 29 years, died on Aug. 3 at his Poughkeepsie residence. He was 74.
Brother Kelly was at Marist from 1986 to 2015. He also taught in Queens, Chicago and Florida.
Born in the Bronx, Brother Kelly entered the Marist Brother Novitiate in Esopus in 1961 and professed final vows in 1967.
He completed his religious and academic studies at Marist before earning master’s degrees in math from Hunter College, statistics from New York University and computer science from Marist. He received a doctorate in math from Brooklyn Polytech.
He is survived by his sisters, Patricia McCarthy and Eileen Bohan.
A Funeral Mass was offered on Aug. 8 at the Marist College Chapel. Burial was at the Marist Brothers Cemetery in Esopus.
