Brother Glenn Humphrey, O.F.M.

Brother Glenn Humphrey, O.F.M., who served as a counselor at Rice High School in Harlem for six years, died Oct. 9 at Bon Secours Maria Manor Nursing Care Center in St. Petersburg, Fla. He was 76.

Brother Humphrey served at Rice High School, 2005-2011. For more than two decades, he worked with troubled adolescents through programs in and around New York City at hospitals and schools.

He also served in New Mexico and Arizona.

Born in Kansas City, Mo., he entered the Franciscans as a member of St. John the Baptist Province in 1964 and professed his solemn vows in 1968. He transferred to the Holy Name Province in 1988.

He graduated from Duns Scotus College, Southfield, Mich., with a bachelor’s degree in philosophy. He received a master’s degree in guidance and counseling from the University of New Mexico, Albuquerque, N.M., and a doctorate in clinical psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology, San Diego.

His brother, Jim, and sister, Mary Anne, survive him.

A Funeral Mass was celebrated Oct. 13 in the friary chapel in St. Petersburg, Fla. Burial was in Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Clearwater, Fla.
