Brother Ignatius J. Fitzroy, S.J., who served for many years at St. Ignatius Retreat House in Manhasset, died Sept. 16 at Murray-Weigel Hall, the Jesuit infirmary in the Bronx. He was 98. He served as assistant minister at the Jesuits' St. Ignatius Retreat House in Manhasset, with responsibility for building maintenance, from 1969 to 1995. He was responsible for building maintenance at the order's seminary in Shrub Oak, 1957-1969, and at Brooklyn Prep in Brooklyn, 1955-1957. He was an assistant at St. Andrew-on-Hudson, the Jesuit novitiate in Poughkeepsie, 1953-1955. Born in New York City, he entered the Jesuits at St. Andrew-on-Hudson in 1951 and professed final vows in 1961. A Funeral Mass was celebrated Sept. 19 at the chapel at Murray-Weigel Hall. Burial was in the Jesuit Cemetery at Auriesville.
