Brother John Francis Walsh, C.F.C.

Brother John Francis Walsh, C.F.C., who served at high schools in the archdiocese for 10 years, died Feb. 5 Cabrini of Westchester nursing home in Dobbs Ferry. He was 87.

Brother Walsh was at Blessed Sacrament-St. Gabriel High School, New Rochelle, 1991-1996, and Msgr. Farrell High School, Staten Island, 1964-1969. He also served in Schenectady, Rhode Island, New Jersey and Canada before retiring in 2002.

Born in Manhattan, he entered the Congregation of Christian Brothers in 1948 and professed final vows in 1959.

He earned bachelor’s degree in French from Iona College, New Rochelle, and a master’s in French from Gonzaga University, Spokane, Wash.

A Funeral Mass was offered Feb. 11 in Holy Family Church, New Rochelle. Burial was in Christian Brothers Cemetery, West Park.
