Brother Pius Blandino, O.F.M. Cap.

Brother Pius Blandino, O.F.M. Cap., who served as a catechist and organist, died April 22 at St. John’s Hospital in Yonkers. He was 82.

Brother Blandino, while residing at St. Conrad Friary in White Plains, served the parishes of St. Bernard, White Plains; St. Vito’s, Mamaroneck; and St. Pius X, Scarsdale, 2005-2019. He served as guardian and fraternal vicar, and in music ministry and community service.

He served Our Lady Queen of Angels, Manhattan, as a catechist, organist and parochial assistant, 1990-1999, and as fraternity guardian, 1999-2005.

From 1976 to 1990, also at St. Conrad, he was maintenance supervisor and cook, and served at organist at St. Bernard and Our Lady of Sorrows, both in White Plains.

Born in Poughkeepsie, he entered the Capuchin Franciscan Friars in 1959 and made final vows in 1963. He held a bachelor’s degree in religious education from the College of New Rochelle.
He is survived by his sister, Rose Bahret.Burial arrangements were private. A Memorial Mass will be offered at a later date.
