Brother Raymond Saville, S.A., who served three times as secretary general of the Franciscan Friars of the Atonement, died June 8 at Graymoor, Garrison. He was 84. He was secretary general of the friars, who are based at Graymoor, from 1967 to 1973, 1985 to 1986 and 1993 to 1999, when he retired. He served in the friars formation program, 1986-1993, first as assistant novice director and then as novice director. He was elected in 1973 to the General Council of the friars and served until 1985. He served in Japan, 1949-1967, where he taught English and religion and was director of music at a friars' mission. Born in Troy, he entered the Atonement Friars in 1940 and professed final vows in 1946. A Funeral Mass was offered June 13 at Little Flower Chapel at Graymoor, with burial at the friars' cemetery there.
