Brother William Damian Cronin, C.F.C., a former teacher in the archdiocese, died May 15 at Cabrini Nursing Home in Dobbs Ferry. He was 82.

He served at Rice High School in Manhattan, 1998-2002 and 1976-1980; John A. Coleman Catholic High School, Hurley, 1992-1993; Power Memorial Academy, Manhattan, 1982-1984, and Blessed Sacrament High School in New Rochelle, 1980-1982.

He was also at Notre Dame-Bishop Gibbons High School, Schenectady, and served in New Jersey, South Carolina, Texas, Canada, Ireland and Peru.

Most recently he was a member of St. Joseph's Residence Community, New Rochelle.

Born in Mount Vernon, he graduated from St. Catharine School in Pelham and Blessed Sacrament High School in New Rochelle. He entered the Congregation of Christian Brothers in 1955 and professed final vows in 1963.

He earned a bachelor's degree in French from Iona College in New Rochelle and a master's in religious education from St. Michael's College in Winooski, Vt.

He is survived by his brother, Henry Cronin.

Interment was at the Christian Brothers Cemetery in West Park. A Memorial Mass will be offered at a later date.
