Burt Beagle, the longtime media director and sports statistician for the Catholic High School Athletic Association (CHSAA), died Feb. 19 at Calvary Hospital in the Bronx. He was 73. Mr. Beagle, an accountant by profession, had served as media director of the CHSAA since 1974. He was inducted into the CHSAA Hall of Fame in 1995 and last year he received the same honor from the New York State Basketball Hall of Fame. The lifelong Bronx resident was a fixture at the scorer's table at Catholic high school sports contests, volunteering at hundreds of games each year. He had scored every football game since 1974 at Mount St. Michael Academy in the Bronx and held an even longer streak at Baruch College men's basketball contests, which dated from the 1968 season until last Nov. 21, when his illness forced him away from the action. A funeral service for Mr. Beagle, who was Jewish, was offered Feb. 22 at Castle Hill Funeral Home in the Bronx.
