Our Lady of Caridad del Cobre, patroness of Cuba, was honored at a Spanish-language Mass in St. Patrick’s Cathedral Sept. 9. Father Julio Barrios, chaplain and teacher at DePaul Catholic High School in Wayne, N.J., was the principal celebrant. Concelebrating were Msgr. Robert Ritchie, rector of the cathedral, and Father Lorenzo Ato, communications director of the archdiocesan Office of Hispanic Ministry. The Mass was organized by the archdiocesan Committee for Our Lady of Caridad del Cobre. Sept. 8 marks the feast of Our Lady of Charity, and also the birth of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
