Sister Jean Marie holds a proclamation from the office of the Bronx borough president Ruben Diaz Jr. citing that day as Academy of Mount St. Ursula Day in the Bronx.

Academy of Mount St. Ursula in the Bronx, celebrated the its 165th anniversary Oct. 1. The school for young women was founded by the Ursuline Sisters in 1855 and moved to its current location at 330 Bedford Ave. in 1892. School officials said Mount St. Ursula is the oldest continuously operated Catholic girls’ high school in New York state.
