Claire Agnes Schiller, mother of Catholic New York’s advertising and business manager, Matthew Schiller, died July 25 in Aberdeen, S.D., where she had lived in recent years. She was 81.
Mrs. Schiller was a teacher at St. Benedict Joseph Labre School and Our Lady of the Cenacle School, both in Richmond Hill, Queens, for many years.
Born in Jersey City, N.J., she was a graduate of St. John’s University in Queens.
She and her husband of 60 years, Eugene Schiller, who survives her, had lived in New York for many years before moving to Los Angeles in 1980 and then to Aberdeen in 1998. Since 2007, she had resided at ManorCare Health Services in Aberdeen.
Mrs. Schiller is also survived by a daughter, Sharon Gould; another son, Mark; 15 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A Funeral Mass was offered July 28 at Sacred Heart Church in Aberdeen. Burial was in St. Mary’s Cemetery there.
