Common Ground

I want to wish all the best to newly elected Cardinals Wilton Gregory and Silvano Tomasi (CNY, Nov. 5). I have something in common with Cardinal Tomasi, who said, “I am one of those 40 million Americans who were born outside the U.S., but at the same time are part of the makeup of the country.”

I look forward to reading the cardinal’s new book, “Pioneers in Solidarity with Migrants.” He said his book is about “the defense of the rights of migrants; they are human beings like everyone else.”
