Deacon Ernest Salomone, who served at Immaculate Heart of Mary parish in Scarsdale, died Jan. 12 in Rye Brook. He was 87.
Deacon Salomone studied at St. Joseph’s Seminary and had served at the Scarsdale parish since his ordination by Cardinal Terence Cooke in 1977.
As a permanent deacon, he conducted wake and gravesite services, assisted and preached at Masses, baptized children and witnessed marriages. He also led marriage preparation classes.
Born in the Bronx, he served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He also operated, along with his three brothers, Salomone & Co., a construction and real estate firm.
He is survived by his sons Steven and Christopher and daughter Laura Allen. His wife, Nina,
