Decrees Rescind the Relegation of Two Churches

Posted

Cardinal Dolan recently issued decrees rescinding the relegation of two churches in the archdiocese, the Church of Most Holy Trinity in Mamaroneck and the Church of St. Veronica in Manhattan.

On May 26, 2018, Most Holy Trinity Church and St. Veronica were both relegated to “profane but not sordid use” according to the prescripts of canon 1222 s2.

The decrees, which became effective immediately, were signed by Cardinal Dolan and John P. Cahill, chancellor of the archdiocese.

The Church of Most Holy Trinity is in the parish of St. Vito-Most Holy Trinity, and the Church of St. Veronica is in the parish of Our Lady of Guadalupe at St. Bernard-St. Veronica in Manhattan.

The decrees rescinding the relegation of the two churches do not affect the respective parish mergers, which remain in place.
