Father Blaise Reinhart, O.F.M.

Father Blaise Reinhart, O.F.M., who served for 44 years at Siena College in Loudonville, died Aug. 10 at Cabrini of Westchester in Dobbs Ferry. He was 93.

Father Reinhart served Siena as a teacher, department chair, assistant academic dean and dean of student services during three tenures, 1971-2005, 1963-1970 and 1956-1959.

Born in College Point, Queens, he entered the Franciscans of the Holy Name Province in 1950, professed final vows in 1954 and was ordained in 1955.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II before earning a bachelor’s degree in accounting from St. Bonaventure University, and a master’s degree and Ph.D. in economics from The Catholic University of America, Washington, D.C.

His sister, Helen Hecht, survives him.

A Funeral Mass was celebrated Aug. 14 at Our Lady of the Angels Chapel at Siena College. Burial will be at a later date in St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands.
