Father Brennan A. Connelly, O.F.M.

Father Brennan A. Connelly, O.F.M., who served at Holy Cross parish and friary in the Bronx, died Nov. 30 at Holy Name Friary in Ringwood, N.J. He was 81.

He served at Holy Cross parish in the Bronx as parochial vicar, 2002-2008. He served at the friary there as guardian and director of pre-novitiate formation, 1979-1985.

He was a professor, prefect of discipline and vicar of the friar community at St. Joseph’s Seminary in Callicoon for 12 years beginning in 1958.

He also served in New Jersey, Boston and Pennsylvania.

He served on the council of Holy Name Province, 1979-1985.

Born in Boston, Mass., he entered the Order of Friars Minor in 1950 and professed final vows in 1954. He was ordained in 1956.

He is survived by two sisters, Ann Stanton and Mary Springer.

A Funeral Mass was offered Dec. 6 at St. Anthony’s Shrine in Boston. Burial followed in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in West Roxbury, Mass.
