Father Donald B. Gollinge, retired pastor of St. Mary of the Assumption parish on Staten Island, died on Dec. 31 at a hospital in Zephyrhills, Fla. He was 76. A Funeral Mass was offered Jan. 4 at St. Joseph's Church in Zephyrhills, where he had been assisting in recent years. Father Gollinge was pastor of St. Mary of the Assumption from 1986 until he took a sick leave in 1992. He retired in 2000. He also served as parochial vicar at St. Mary's, 1976-1986. He served as parochial vicar at a number of other parishes in the archdiocese: St. Augustine's, Highland, 1974-1976; Holy Child, Staten Island, 1970-1974; Sacred Heart of Jesus, Manhattan, 1967-1970; St. Jerome's, the Bronx, 1961-1967; and St. Catherine of Genoa, Manhattan, 1958-1961. He was regional director of the Confraternity of Christian Doctrine in the South Bronx during part of his time at St. Jerome's. He was a counselor at Iona College in New Rochelle and Power Memorial High School in Manhattan. Born on Staten Island, he studied for the priesthood at St. Joseph's Seminary in Dunwoodie and was ordained in 1958. In the summer following his ordination, he studied at the Catholic University of Puerto Rico in Ponce. He is survived by a brother. Burial was in St. Anthony's Cemetery in San Antonio, Fla.
