Father Edward M. Wroblewski, M.M., who served as a missioner to Africa, died April 16 at Phelps Memorial Hospital in Sleepy Hollow. He was 88.

In 1957, he was assigned to Tanzania, serving there for 17 years. He was instrumental in establishing Musoma College and was its first headmaster.

He was a pastor and parochial vicar in the Musoma and Arusha dioceses. He was chaplain and religion teacher at secondary schools in Musoma.

He served in Michigan, 1975-1977. Then, he joined the faculty of the Maryknoll School of Theology in Ossining. He retired in 1999.

Born in Brooklyn, he professed final vows in 1951 and was ordained for the Maryknoll Fathers in 1952. He held a bachelor’s degree in philosophy from Maryknoll Seminary and a master’s in speech from The Catholic University of America.

A Funeral Mass was offered April 26 in Queen of Apostles Chapel at Maryknoll. Burial was in Maryknoll Society Cemetery in Ossining.
