Father Eric F. Kyle, O.F.M.

Father Eric F. Kyle, O.F.M., resident chaplain at Carmel Richmond Nursing Home on Staten Island for 13 years, died Dec. 1 at Holy Name Friary in Ringwood, N.J. He was 91.

Father Kyle was at Carmel Richmond Nursing Home, 1993-2006. He worked in the Provincial Development Office, 1968-1971, and was elected to the Provincial Council in 1969.

Father Kyle served as spiritual director and instructor of English and theology at St. Joseph Seraphic Seminary in Callicoon, 1955-1968, and was on the pastoral staff at St. Francis of Assisi parish in Manhattan, 1953-1955.

He also served in New Jersey.

Born in Brooklyn, he entered the Franciscan Friars of Holy Name Province in 1946 and professed final vows in 1950. He was ordained to the priesthood in 1952.

He earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees from St. Bonaventure University in Allegany.

A Funeral Mass was offered Dec. 6 at St. Anthony’s Church in Butler, N.J., followed by burial at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Totowa, N.J.
