Father Kenneth Germaine, S.D.B.

Father Kenneth Germaine, S.D.B., who was a teacher and also served at the Salesian Missions Office in New Rochelle, died June 19 at Suncoast Hospice in Palm Harbor, Fla. He was 89.

Father Germaine served in New Rochelle as acting archivist at the Salesian Provincial House, 2014-2016, and as a staff member at the Salesian Missions Office, 1983-1987.

He taught at a Salesian school in Tampa, Fla., 1995-2004, and in Ramsey, N.J., 1987-1992.

Other assignments included serving as director and teacher of Don Bosco Technical High School, Boston, 1975-1981 and 1967-1970. He taught at Don Bosco Tech, Paterson, N.J., 1970-1975.

He was a parochial vicar at a parish in Birmingham, Ala., 2004-2014.

Born in Cliffside, N.J., he entered the Salesians of Don Bosco in 1954 and professed final vows in 1962. He was ordained to the priesthood in 1967. He held a bachelor’s degree in philosophy from Don Bosco College, Newton, N.J.

A Funeral Mass was offered June 29 at the Marian Shrine in Stony Point. A Memorial Mass was offered June 23 in Tampa, Fla. Burial was at the Salesian Cemetery in Goshen.
