Father Martin T. Crowe, C.Ss.R.

Father Martin T. Crowe, C.Ss.R., who served for many years at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Brooklyn and earlier as a chaplain in Manhattan, died June 27 at St. John Neumann Residence in Saratoga Springs. He was 92. He served at the Brooklyn parish from 1970 until shortly before his death. Previously, he served for 18 years as director of the St. Gerard Guild, based in Manhattan. Born in Johnsonburg, Pa., he professed first vows as a Redemptorist in 1935. He was ordained in 1940. He studied at The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C., where he earned a doctorate in theology. He was a chaplain in the U.S. Army during World War II. Father Crowe is survived by a sister, Charlotte Fuhrman. A Funeral Mass was offered July 2 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, with burial in St. Gregory's Cemetery in North East, Pa.
