Father Phillip Howard, C.S.Sp., who was pastor of St. Mark the Evangelist parish in Harlem, died Dec. 4. He was 67.
He had served at St. Mark’s parish since September 2011. Before that, he was pastor of parishes in California, Texas, Illinois and Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
He also served in Trinidad and in Paraguay.
Born in Trinidad, he was professed as a member of the Congregation of the Holy Spirit, or the Spiritans, in 1968. He was ordained to the priesthood in 1979.
He is survived by his sisters, Annette Howard, Edith Whittier and Yvette Rabgir.
A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Mark the Evangelist Church on Saturday, Dec. 15, at 11 a.m. Archbishop Joseph Harris, C.S.Sp.., of the Archdiocese of Port of Spain, Trinidad, will be the main celebrant.
A viewing and wake service will take place at St. Mark the Evangelist on Friday, Dec. 14, 6-9 p.m., and on Saturday, Dec. 15, 9-10:30 a.m.
Burial will take place at the Spiritan cemetery in Bensalem, Pa.
