Father Sears Named Pastor of Manhattan Parish

Father George Sears has been appointed pastor of Holy Name of Jesus-St. Gregory the Great Parish in Manhattan, the Cardinal’s Office announced.

Father Sears will continue to serve as director of vocations for the archdiocese, a role he’s held since last year.

Father Sears served as administrator of Holy Name of Jesus-St. Gregory the Great,, Manhattan, 2021-2022. From 2017 to 2021, he was rector of Cathedral Seminary House of Formation, Douglaston, Queens, where he was vice rector, 2015-2017. He served at St. Mary’s, Poughkeepsie, as pastor, 2012-2015, and administrator, 2011-2012. He was parochial vicar of St. Rose of Lima-Our Lady of Esperanza, Manhattan, 2006-2011; and Our Lady of Angels, the Bronx, 2005-2006.

Father Sears was ordained to the priesthood by Cardinal Edward Egan at St. Patrick’s Cathedral in 2005.
