Dr. Timothy McNiff, superintendent of schools for the archdiocese, addresses principals and education leaders from Catholic schools throughout the country as part of a national dialogue on school choice and Catholic school identity and culture at a semiannual “Principals Meeting” April 28 at Marina Del Rey in the Bronx. Dr. McNiff moderated a panel discussion that included, from left: Jeannine Roland, principal, Our Lady Star of the Sea, Staten Island; Dan Heding, a principal from the Archdiocese of Milwaukee; Damian Hermann, Manhattan regional superintendent; and Mike Pizzingrillo, regional vice president at Catapult Learning. Sister Patricia Howell, O.P., principal of St. Anthony School in Nanuet, was presented with the 25 Year Principal Service Award.

Mass was celebrated before the meeting at St. Frances de Chantal Church in the Bronx, above left, where the Sisters of Charity were honored for their 200 years of service in the Archdiocese of New York and a perpetual, annual scholarship for a Catholic school student was announced. The sisters are Sister Margaret O'Brien, S.C.; Sister Kathleen Sullivan, S.C.; Sister Mary Ann D'Antonio, S.C., and Sister Mary Cleary, S.C.
