Cardinal Dolan honored Thomas J. Reid, chief legal officer and secretary of Comcast Corporation at the 32nd annual St. Thomas More Award Luncheon, hosted by The Lawyers Committee of Inner-City Scholarship Fund Oct. 27 at Cipriani 42nd Street in Manhattan. Over 300 guests attended the festive event, which raised close to $600,000.
Latrisha Desrosiers, deputy general counsel of the New York City Department of Youth and Community Development, received the John P. Cooney Award for Mentorship and Community Involvement. John P. Cooney Jr. was a long-time partner at Davis, Polk & Wardwell LLP and a dedicated supporter of the Inner-City Scholarship Fund.
Susan Saldago, a senior at Notre Dame School in Manhattan and a first-generation Mexican American who is an Inner-City Scholarship Fund recipient, spoke about her dreams to attend Yale University to study business. She reflected on the supportive teachers, close friends and dedicated ICSF sponsors who have supported her throughout Catholic school education.

The Lawyers Committee of Inner-City Scholarship Fund is made up of some of the most distinguished members of New York’s legal community and is an active and effective ally in Inner-City's effort to help inner-city students and their families.
Inner-City Scholarship Fund was founded in 1971 by Cardinal Terence Cooke and prominent executives of many religious beliefs. Inner-City provides tuition assistance to over 11,000 students (89% minority and 40% non-Catholic). An astonishing 99% percent of seniors attending inner-city Catholic high schools graduate, and 98% are accepted to colleges and universities across the nation.
