Interim Principal, Assistant Principal Named at Maria Regina

Maria Carozza-McCaffrey has been appointed interim principal and Silvia Santo was named assistant principal of Maria Regina High School in Hartsdale, the school announced.

“At Maria Regina High School, we strive every day to honor our school’s motto—scholarship, service and spirit. I can think of no one better to lead us in this effort than Maria and Silvia,” said Anna Parra, president of Maria Regina, who announced the appointments July 31.

Mrs. Carozza-McCaffrey, a 1999 graduate of Maria Regina, assumes her new role until a permanent principal is named. At Maria Regina, she has taught scientific research, biology, anatomy and physiology, health, AP psychology and introduction to computers.

A classically trained musician, she has also serves as the school’s choral director, guiding the choral ensemble to 11 national titles since 2006.

From 2015 to 2017, Mrs. Carozza-McCaffrey was the school’s assistant principal of operations. Her responsibilities included strategic planning and administration and educational oversight.

Mrs. Carozza-McCaffrey earned a master’s degree in human development from Teachers College at Columbia University.

Ms. Santo steps into a newly created position at Maria Regina after serving as director of counseling and director of college placement at All Hallows High School in the Bronx. A career educator, she was academic vice principal at the Academy of Mount St. Ursula in the Bronx before arriving at All Hallows.

She holds master’s degrees in school building leadership from St. John’s University in Queens, counseling from College of New Rochelle and religious education from Fordham University in the Bronx.
