John F. Kennedy Catholic Preparatory School of Somers captured a third consecutive CHSAA Intersectional Class A boys soccer championship by beating Msgr. McClancy High School of East Elmhurst, Queens, on penalty kicks at Icahn Stadium on Randalls Island Nov. 14.
The two teams were tied, 1-1, before Kennedy Catholic won on penalty kicks, 3-1, as goalie Luke Gerstner stopped two penalty kicks, and Brendan Liddy, Paul Duggan and P.J. Wu each converted a penalty kick.
Brain Tolan scored the tying goal in the second half for Kennedy Catholic.
