In honor of National Hispanic Heritage Month, the annual archdiocesan Misa de la Hispanidad was celebrated Oct. 2 at St. Patrick’s Cathedral. The principal celebrant and homilist was Bishop Emeritus Eusebio Ignacio Hernández Sola, O.A.R., of the Diocese of Tarazona, Spain.
“As a community of Hispanics, today we celebrate the day of the Hispanidad. So let us evoke the pillar of our faith…One faith and one culture unites us, dear brothers and sisters,” Bishop Hernandez said in his homily. Concelebrants were Father Enrique Salvo, rector of the cathedral; Father Lorenzo Ato, communications director for archdiocesan Hispanic Ministry; and Father Brian McWeeney, archdiocesan director of the Ethnic Apostolate. Hispanic Heritage Month runs from Sept. 15 to Oct. 15.
