Former Mets catcher and baseball Hall of Famer Mike Piazza will be at the The Sheen Center for Thought & Culture in lower Manhattan Tuesday, July 26, for the Faith, The Competitive Edge series.
The 12:30 p.m. event is hosted by 1988 U.S. Track and Field Olympian Leslie Maxie. The series is inspired by the Vatican’s Sport at the Service of Humanity movement.
Tickets: $24 and $35. A limited $75 ticket will include a meet and greet with Piazza at noon. (No autographs will be signed.)
Fans also can make a donation to The Sheen Center with a ticket purchase for a chance to win two tickets to join Piazza in the Honda Clubhouse at Citi Field to watch the Mets play the Yankees that night.
Piazza, a 62nd round pick of the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 1988 Major League Baseball Draft, played 16 seasons in the majors, including eight with the Mets where he hit .296 with 220 home runs and 655 RBIs.
For his career, Piazza batted .308 with 427 home runs and 1,335 RBIs. His 399 home runs as a catcher ranks first all time among Major League Baseball catchers. The 1993 National League Rookie of the Year appeared in 12 All-Star Games and was elected to the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 2016.
