A day of worship, service, music and fun will be offered to teenagers in grades eight through 12 at New York Catholic Youth Day at St. Joseph’s Seminary in Dunwoodie Saturday, April 23. The day begins at 8 a.m. and concludes at 6 p.m.

Cardinal Dolan will celebrate Mass, and speakers will include Father Agustino Torres, C.F.R., and Sean Bryan, known as “The Papal Ninja” from the NBC television series American Ninja Warrior.

“We hope they get a renewed sense of the Church’s love for them and God’s love for them,” said Ela Milewska, executive director of the archdiocesan Department of Youth Faith Formation, which hosts the day.

“Our young people are so critical. They give so much with their giftedness and skills. Their love for God is so contagious. This is a way for our archdiocese to celebrate them.”

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, only about 170 teens were able to participate in person at last year’s New York Catholic Youth Day at St. Anthony of Padua Church in the Bronx, with others watching the livestream from home or at their parishes.

“We missed seeing them, the joy and energy they bring,” said Ms. Milewska, who hopes about 750 young people will be able to attend this year’s event. “Their gifts are so incredible and to celebrate Christ with them is amazing.”

Advanced registration is required. Cost: $40 per person.
