Nicanor Ato, father of Father Lorenzo Ato, died May 1 at Goldwater Memorial Hospital on Roosevelt Island. He was 75. Father Ato, who works in the archdiocesan Communications Office and is a columnist for Catholic New York, is administrator of St. Emeric's parish in Manhattan. Mr. Ato, who lived with family members in Peru and in New York City, was a fisherman in his native port city of Callao, Peru. He also was employed in the business field. He was predeceased by his wife, Digna, who died in 1982. He is also survived by his sons Luis and Rudinfu and daughters Digna and Doris. A Funeral Mass was offered May 7 at Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Church in upper Manhattan. Burial was in St. Raymond's Cemetery in the Bronx.
