Poor Comparison

Posted

Once again, John Woods shows his anti-police bias, even when he is promoting unity (CNY, Editor’s Report, July 21). He writes about the shooting deaths of “young black men who had been stopped by police officers.” Was any research done at CNY about these men/incidents? Alton Lester was a 37-year-old ex-con and a registered sex offender who was menacing someone with an illegal gun when police were called to the scene. Philando Castile was 32 years old at the time of his death. Is all you know about that incident what you saw his girlfriend livestream on the Internet?

These incidents are tragedies for both deceased men and for their families and friends. However, the “apples to apples” comparison of these events with the premeditated murder of police officers is appalling.

In each of your police articles, there are always tips from the clergy about how to better police people. If someone points a gun at one of your readers, should they call the rectory?
