Priestly Commitment

Posted

A lifelong commitment to the vocation of the priesthood was exhibited recently at Holy Name of Jesus in Otisville.

One of our former pastors, Father Gerard J. DiSenso, a priest for more than 63 years, died on June 9 at age 93 (CNY, June 17). Described by a fellow parishioner as a “gentle and holy man,” Father DiSenso served with a true love of Jesus Christ and the Eucharist.

Likewise, our current pastor, Father Mike Palazzo, offered a Memorial Mass for Father DiSenso last night at our church. Father Palazzo, despite administering two parishes, two local prisons and John S. Burke Catholic High School in Goshen, carved out time to offer a beautiful liturgy for a beloved former pastor. Those who could not attend Father DiSenso's funeral on June 16 in the Bronx appreciated the opportunity to remember him at Holy Name of Jesus.

Thank you, Father DiSenso, Father Palazzo and all priests and bishops. Thank you to our deacons, religious and dedicated lay people who serve so faithfully. We are grateful.
