Sister Alice Marie Goularte, M.M., who was a teacher in Hawaii and California for more than half a century, died on Sept. 24 at the Maryknoll Sisters Residential Care Center in Ossining. She was 95. She served as a teacher in Hawaii for 35 years and also taught for 19 years in Los Angeles, Calif., at a Maryknoll school for Japanese students. She later was a tutor and part-time teacher of Filipinos and Hispanics in that area from 1987 to 1991, when she retired. Born in East Bridgewater, Mass., she entered the Maryknoll Sisters in 1935 and professed final vows in 1941. She held a bachelor's degree in education from Maryknoll Teachers College. A Funeral Mass was offered on Sept. 29 at the sisters' chapel at Maryknoll, with burial in the sisters' cemetery there.
