Sister Ann Louise Beerhalter, O.P.

Sister Ann Louise Beerhalter, O.P., who had a long ministry in health care, died in the Ossining Center of Hope, Mariandale, Feb. 27. She was 91.

In the archdiocese, she served as a nurse at Calvary Hospital in the Bronx, 1955-1958 and 1962-1964, and as a visiting nurse with the Dominican Sisters of the Sick Poor, in New York City, 1964-1966, 1968-1972 and 1976-1978, and in Ossining, 1945-1947.

She also served in Ohio and Minnesota. She retired from nursing in 1978 to volunteer as a Eucharistic minister at St. Augustine’s parish in Ossining and as sacristan of the Dominican Sisters Chapel in Ossining.

Born in Munnsville, she entered the Dominican Sisters of the Sick Poor in 1945 and professed final vows in 1949. She held a bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of Dayton.

A brother, Martin Beerhalter, survives her.

A Funeral Mass was offered March 7 in the chapel at the Center of Hope in Ossining. Burial was in the sisters’ cemetery in Ossining.
