Sister Anna Daly, S.H.C.J.

Sister Anna Daly, S.H.C.J., an educator, librarian and alumnae director at School of the Holy Child in Rye, died Sept. 19, at Eastchester Rehabilitation Center in the Bronx. She was 85.

She served as director of alumnae relations from 1970 to 2001. After her retirement in 2001, she served on the school’s board of trustees until 2008. She began teaching English and Latin and serving as the librarian at Holy Child, 1959-1970.

Sister Anna taught at St. Elizabeth’s School in Manhattan, 1946-1951. She most recently worked as an archivist at St. Conrad’s Friary in White Plains.

Born in New York City, she entered the Society of the Holy Child Jesus in 1944 and professed final vows in 1951.

She held a bachelor’s degree in education and a master’s degree in library science, both from Villanova University.

A Funeral Mass was offered Sept. 25 at Our Lady of Sorrows Church in White Plains, with burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Port Chester.
