Sister Anne Miriam Connellan, S.C., who taught at Cathedral High School in Manhattan for 33 years, died Sept. 16 at Yonkers Gardens Nursing Home in Yonkers. She was 95.
Sister Anne Miriam served at Cathedral High School, 1970-1995 and 1955-1963. She taught at St. Joseph by-the-Sea, Staten Island, 1967-1970; St. Barnabas High School, the Bronx, 1965-1967; Blessed Sacrament, Manhattan, 1954-1955; Academy of Mount St. Vincent, Tuxedo Park, 1949-1953; and Holy Name of Jesus, Manhattan, 1948-1949.
Sister Anne Miriam volunteered at the Davidson House, the Bronx, 1996-2000, and St. Malachy parish, Manhattan, 1995-1996. She also served in the Bahamas.
Born in San Francisco, she entered the Sisters of Charity of New York in 1946 and professed final vows in 1951.
She earned a bachelor’s degree in English from the College of Mount St. Vincent; and a master’s in English from The Catholic University of America, Washington, D.C.
Her sisters, Elizabeth McGaheren and Mary Dougherty, survive her.
A Funeral Mass was celebrated Sept. 26 at St. Margaret of Cortona Church, the Bronx. Her cremains will be buried in Mount St. Vincent Cemetery at a later date.
