Sister Anne Regina O'Brien, P.B.V.M.

Sister Anne Regina O'Brien, P.B.V.M., who taught in the archdiocese, died July 5 at Lenox Hill Hospital in Manhattan. She was 77 and formerly was known as Sister Mary Cabrini Joseph. She taught at St. Michael Academy, 1970-1978, and St. Michael's Elementary School in 1953, both in Manhattan; John S. Burke Catholic High School (formerly St. John's High School), Goshen, 1961-1970; St. Paul's School, Yonkers, 1959-1961; and Our Lady of Solace, 1955-1959, and St. Frances of Rome, 1953-1955, both in the Bronx. She served as receptionist at Cathedral High School in Manhattan from 1998 until her retirement in 2005. Born in Manhattan, she entered the Sisters of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary in New Windsor in 1950 and professed final vows in 1956. She held a bachelor's degree in Latin from Manhattan College and a master's in Spanish from the University of Notre Dame. A Funeral Mass was offered at the chapel at Mount St. Joseph, the motherhouse in New Windsor, with burial in the sisters' cemetery.
