Sister Annette Champigny, R.D.C., who taught at John F. Kennedy Catholic High School in Somers and at other schools in the archdiocese, died May 12 in Dobbs Ferry Hospital. She was 81. Sister Annette, formerly known as Sister Mary Raphael, taught at Kennedy Catholic from 1963 to 1985, and before that she taught at Preston High School, the Bronx, 1959-1963. After retiring from teaching, she was a pastoral counselor at Somers Manor Nursing Home until 1992. Earlier, she taught at Our Lady of Good Counsel Elementary School, White Plains, 1951; St. Lawrence O'Toole School, Brewster, 1952-1955; and St. Joseph's School, Croton Falls, 1955-1956. After recovering from serious injuries from an accident that took the lives of three Religious of the Divine Compassion who taught at St. Joseph's, she was assigned to St. John the Evangelist School in Mahopac, where she taught until going to Preston. Born in Lynn, Mass., she entered the Sisters of the Divine Compassion in 1948 and professed final vows in 1954. She held a bachelor's degree from Good Counsel College in White Plains and a master's from St. John's University. She is survived by a sister, Flora Muise, and was predeceased by 14 brothers and sisters. A Funeral Mass was offered May 18 in the Chapel of the Divine Compassion in White Plains.
