Sister Barbara Connolly, G.N.S.H.

Sister Barbara Connolly, G.N.S.H., who served with the American Red Cross in Manhattan for nine years, died April 1 in White Plains. She was 79.

Sister Barbara was at the American Red Cross as director of the family respite center, 1987-1994, and project coordinator for the emergency family shelter, 1985-1987. She also served in Queens and Brooklyn.

Born in Queens, she entered the Grey Nuns of the Sacred Heart in 1957 and made final vows in 1963. She earned a master’s degree from Fordham University.

Her sister, Patricia Connolly, G.N.S.H., survives her.

A Funeral Mass was celebrated April 6 in the Redeemer Sisters’ Chapel, Huntingdon Valley, Pa. Burial was in Resurrection Cemetery, Bensalem, Pa.
