Sister Bernadette Cordis Duggan, M.M.

Sister Bernadette Cordis Duggan, M.M., who served at the Maryknoll Sisters Center in Ossining for 19 years, died there May 6. She was 82.

Sister Bernadette was at Maryknoll as a medical volunteer, 2008-2016; serving in the congregation’s health services/laboratory, 1985-1988; and providing care for elderly and sick sisters, 1958-1965. She also served in Cambodia, Bangladesh and the Philippines.

Born in Boston, she entered the Maryknoll Sisters novitiate in 1958 and professed final vows in 1967.

She earned a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Salve Regina College, Newport, R.I., and a master’s in public health nursing from the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis.

Her sister, Mary Roy, and brother, Paul Ryan, survive her.

Burial was in the cemetery at Maryknoll Sisters Center. A Memorial Mass will be scheduled at a later date.
