Sister Catherine Marie Jordan, O.S.U.

Sister Catherine Marie Jordan, O.S.U., who was principal of five schools, including three in the archdiocese, died June 4 at St. John's Hospital in Yonkers. She was 89. She was principal of St. Philip Neri School, the Bronx, 1972-1984 and 1964-1968; St. Angela Merici in the Bronx, 1953-1956; and Blessed Sacrament in New Rochelle, 1939-1953, where she also taught. She also was principal in Malone and in Dedham, Mass. More recently, Sister Catherine Marie was coordinator of religious education for children with disabilities and did parish ministry for St. Philip Neri in the Bronx, 1981-2003. In 1960-1961, she was assistant superior at the Ursuline House of Studies in New Rochelle. Born in Manhattan, she entered the Ursuline Sisters in 1936 and professed final vows in 1942. She held a bachelor's degree in history from the College of New Rochelle and a master's degree in education from Fordham University in the Bronx. A Funeral Mass was offered June 7 at the Ursuline Convent Chapel with burial at St. Raymond's Cemetery in the Bronx.
