Sister Cecilia Ann Flynn, O.P., who served as principal of Aquinas High School in the Bronx for seven years, died April 16 in Dominican Convent in Sparkill. She was 90.

Sister Cecilia Ann was at Aquinas, 1977-1984, and also served as principal of St. Brendan School, the Bronx, 1973-1977, and St. Catherine Laboure School, Lake Katrine, 1968-1973.

She taught at Our Lady of Grace School, the Bronx, 1967-1968; St. Catherine of Siena, Manhattan, 1958-1960; and Cardinal McCloskey, White Plains, 1949-1958.

Sister Cecilia Ann worked to assist seniors in the Belmont section of the Bronx, 2005-2007; as a housing specialist at Thorpe Family Residence, the Bronx, 1989-2005; and as staff organizer at Crotona Community Coalition, the Bronx, 1984-1989. She also served in Hicksville.

Born in New York City, she entered the Dominican Sisters of Sparkill in 1948 and professed final vows in 1954.

She received a bachelor’s degree in education and master’s degree in religious education, both from Fordham University.

Her sisters, Sister Florence Flynn, O.P., Barbara Larrea and Genevieve Murphy, and her brother, Joseph Hyland, survive her.

Burial was April 22 in St. Agnes Cemetery, Sparkill. A Memorial Mass will be scheduled at a later date.
