Sister Christian Jones, S.H.C.J., who taught in Manhattan, died Dec. 4 at White Plains Hospital. She was 87. She taught at St. Elizabeth’s School in Washington Heights, 1978-1980. She
later was a volunteer at Encore Community Center at St. Malachy’s parish in Manhattan, 1998-2000. She also served in Washington, D.C., New Jersey, Massachusetts, California and in Mexico. Born in Pittsburgh, she entered the Society of the Holy Child Jesus in 1945 and professed final vows in 1953. She
was formerly known as Mother Mary Sebastian. She held a bachelor’s degree from West Chester State University of Pennsylvania and a master’s from Villanova University. A Funeral Mass was offered Dec. 8 at the Holy Child Convent in Rye, with burial at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Rye Brook.
