Sister Doris Therese Walbridge, O.S.U.

Sister Doris Therese Walbridge, O.S.U., who taught at The Ursuline School in New Rochelle for 13 years, died July 24 at Andrus on Hudson in Hastings-on-Hudson. She was 87.

Sister Doris Therese was at The Ursuline School, 1986-1987 and 1967-1979. 

She served as provincial secretary, 2003-2009; assistant provincial of the Eastern Province, 1997-2003; and congregational secretary for the Dominican Sisters of Hope, 1988-1997. She was elected a delegate to the Roman Union Chapter in Rome in 1977 and 1983. 

She also taught in Maryland.

Born in New York City, she entered the Ursuline Sisters in 1952 and professed final vows in 1957.

She received a bachelor’s degree in European history from the College of New Rochelle and master’s degrees in modern European history from The Catholic University of America, Washington, D.C., and pastoral ministry and social justice from Boston College, Chestnut Hill.

Burial was July 29 in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne. A Memorial Mass will be scheduled for a later date.
