Sister Eileen Kelley, M.M., who was a missioner in Africa, died Jan. 12 in the Maryknoll Sisters Residential Care unit in Ossining. She was 80. She served in Maryknoll Sisters' missions in Tanzania from 1957 until 1968, and returned in 1978 to work in natural family planning education. She also served in Kenya and the Sudan before going to Somalia, where she was assigned to a refugee camp. She helped to coordinate the Maryknoll Sisters African World Section House in Nairobi, 1988-1994, and also served as a nurse in Monrovia, Calif. Born in Boston, Mass., she entered the Maryknoll Sisters in 1948 and pronounced final vows in 1954. She earned her R.N. at St. Vincent's Medical Center in Manhattan and a bachelor's degree in nursing at the University of Connecticut. A Funeral Mass was offered Jan. 17 at the Maryknoll Sisters Center in Ossining, with burial in the sisters' cemetery.
