Sister Eileen Michele Looney, O.P.

Sister Eileen Michele Looney, O.P., who served for many years in child care and later was a highly skilled clerical employee, died Oct. 18 in Montefiore Nyack Hospital. She was 79.

Sister Eileen Michele provided clerical service at a head injury center in Easton, Md., 1991-2010, and at a school, also in Easton, 1981-1991. She worked as an administrative assistant at Manhattan College, 1980-1981.

She served in child care at Cardinal McCloskey Home, White Plains, 1968-1980 and 1959-1966, and St. Ignatius Day Nursery in Manhattan, 1966-1968.

In 2016, Sister Eileen Michele returned to Dominican Convent in Sparkill, where she resided until her death.

Born in New York City, she entered the Dominican Sisters of Sparkill in 1957, and made final vows in 1964.

A Funeral Mass was offered Oct. 23 at Our Lady of the Rosary Chapel in Sparkill. Burial was at St. Agnes Cemetery, Sparkill.
