Sister Electa M. Schmidt, I.H.M.

Sister Electa M. Schmidt, I.H.M., who served at three schools in Manhattan, died Dec. 2 at Our Lady of Peace Residence in Scranton, Pa. She was 93.

In Manhattan, she taught at Cathedral High School, 1982-1986, and Immaculata High School, 1961-1966, and was administrative assistant at St. Ann, 1994-1997. She also served in Nassau County and in Pennsylvania, North Carolina, West Virginia and Florida.

Born in Linden, Pa., she entered the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary in 1946 and professed final vows in 1952.

She received a bachelor’s degree in business education from Marywood College, Scranton, and a master’s in education from Duquesne University, Pittsburgh.

A Funeral Mass was celebrated Dec. 7 at Our Lady of Peace Residence. Burial was in St. Catherine’s Cemetery, Moscow, Pa.
